Hello Kitty Monkey Costume
Monday is a public holiday so I didn't make any bento since no school ^_^ On Tuesday, I started to create my 1st CNY bento and since is the year of Monkey why not let Hello Kitty wears Monkey Costume to celebrate this upcoming CNY. I know my daughter will love it :D

To made brown rice as monkey, I add some sweet dark sauce and mixed with rice. Shape the head, body, arms, ears and legs. The white kitty-chan face just shaped a thin layer of rice and lay on top of the monkey head. Next create the cheese face featured for monkey and nori detailed.

As for side dished have spinach, bitter gourd with egg and prawn potato.

Day 2: 27.01.16 (Wednesday)
Sleepy Pandas
On Wednesday bento will be sleepy pandas =_=" Felt so sleepy that day so all I could think of was PANDA!!! Is pretty easy to create since I've the panda rice mould and panda nori mould to create the detailed. So basically I just spend time on cooking the eggplant (pan-fried) and meat patties (pan-fried). I did packed a small container for the grapes but forgot to take picture :(

Day 3: 28.01.16 (Thursday)

Little Girl GONG XI FA CAI
On Thursday, I made 2nd CNY Bento creations ^_^ This round I thought of made some Tangerines since oranges in Chinese sound like the "gold" hence it has an auspicious meaning to bring in good luck and wealth. So I made the tangerines using mashed sweet potato to create them and to made it cuter I add little girl holds one tangerine :) I should have made her dress in red qipao Cheongsam then will looked nicer :D Oh well, I didn't thought of it that day.....

As for side dishes have spinach, fishballs and potato croquette.

Body (red) made of crabstick. I just looked at the Chihiro picture and freely cut it out. So please do have a picture of Chihiro for the foodart but it's better result if you trace it then cut out from the baking sheet with seaweed together. So basically my Chihiro little different from the actual Google Image :D Click HERE for my older post Chihiro that I made few years back.

Bento2015#Apr20~Doll Girl Bento

Recently bought online mipad case for my 小米mipad ^_^ So today's lunch inspired by the cute doll mipad case. Pretty easy to make and just need to create two huge eyes for the doll :D

To make the doll, I mix some ketchup to the rice for the face onigiri and wrap nori as part of the hair. Make another two onigiri for the hair bun and body. The huge eyeballs make of kombu (freehand scissor cut out) and I add white rice as the inner eyes to make it sparkling :) Fill up the nori details for the rest of the eyebrows and body details. Bento2015#Feb23~GongXiFaCai Bento

Back to school but kids still in their CNY moods :D I spend too much time on making the egg sheets (black/red/yellow) The black eggsheet didn't turn out well so I use nori ^_^ The side dishes just add on to cover up the holes and I'm totally run out time to do it better! Sigh! So quickly take few photo shot.

Here's the close up Little Girl playing sparkling stick that my kids like it! Suppose to make fire crackers (as per angpow picture) but no time to do. Sigh again...... Well, mix rice with tomato ketchup for the girl and the red/yellow part make from egg sheet (little bit of red food gel for red eggsheet) The flower on the girl is crabstick. Hair make from inari. Freehand scissor cut out nori for the face details. Toast the spaghetti for the stick.

For side dishes have panda chicken, tofu fishcake and broccoli.

Bento2014#Oct29~Fated To Love You

Anyone watch the Korean Drama "Fated To Love You"? It's hilarious Korean Drama and I love the lady role Ellie Kim's drawings but the original painter is Youk Shim Won. Click her name to check her website and cute bags too or her Facebook page! I managed to get the info from google search :D  So today's bento was inspired by one of her drawings ^_^
Here's the close up girl made from rice, imitation crabstick, ketchup for hair and nori for all details.

For side dishes have beef patties, carrots, broccoli, apples and crabstick (balance)

I hope you like this lovely bento. Have a nice day!

Bento2014#Sep22~Golden Hair Girl

As per request from my darling daughter that she wants a golden hair girl bento for her luncbox. Is always the opposite way that when you've black or dark hair tone would prefer the blonde hair. Or when you've straight hair would prefer natural curl. And my daughter loves her hair to be curly too ^_^ Sound funny but when I'm at her age also dream of it!! Hahaha....

Look at my golden hair girl bento. Do you like her eyes? How I wish my eyelashes were like so that I don't have to curl  :D For the face, I mix little bit of ketchup with rice and shape into ball. Arrange to the bento box and cover up with cooked organic carrot ramen. To made the dress, I add inari on top of the rice and decorate with red polka dots (crabstick) using straw to cut. Freehand scissor cut out nori for the face features and punch out ribbons using puncher.

For side dishes contain pea sprouts, quail egg, fishcake, chicken seaweed wrap, mini grapes and kiwi fruit.

Hope this pretty golden hair girl will brighten up your Monday Blues....

Bento2014#Jul14~Kiki's Delivery Service

Recently repeated watching Kiki's Delivery Service animation movie with my daughter at home and she loves Kiki & Jiji ^_^ So I made Kiki & Jiji but in cute version for her lunch bento. I missed out Jiji's whisker =_=" Well, still look cute without it! Haha.....

Perhaps some of you already knew who she was and had watched the animated fantacy movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Many more of this director's movie my daughter and I love to watched ^_^ One of them including Spirited Away!! Familiar right? Did quite a few bento for Spirited Away. I think Kiki will be my first creation and hopefully I can make more of Miyazaki's other movie into bento.

Here is the closer look of Kiki & Jiji ^_^ Arrange some rice into Monbento then cover with minced meat on top. Next, I shape two small onigiri (flatten slightly) for Kiki's face & body. Freehand scissor cut out the nori for all details. Crabstick (red part) for all the red details. Jiji made from nori and crabstick (white/red) including the Jiji's white big eyes! Opps....after taking photos noticed missing Jiji's whickers....can't be helped.....

Bento2014#Jul11~Lady Bento for Bento&Co 2014 Chef Contest

Today I'm going to share with you my submitted bento entry for Bento&Co Chef Bento 2014 Contest ^_^ Again I have fun making it and also mainly to improve myself making better. This year 2014 contest rules was different from last year. Contestants need to prepare a bento with 6 ingredients (tomato/potato/rice/chicken or tofu (vegetarian)/egg/broccoli) plus 1 additional ingredient of our choice. So what additional ingredient in my bento entry? Is seaweed!!!

Actually I made two bento and the above bento you see which will be my 2nd bento for the submitted photo ^_^ Why made two? Because I didn't know seaweed counted as the additional ingredients so the 1st bento I added fruits into as my additional ingredients but luckily I read other people comments from FB and saw seaweed counted as one of the ingredients!!! Opps......so better redo another one and submit the 2nd bento ^_^

This is my 1st bento with additional ingredient : Mini peaches that I thought seaweed on the lady face won't be counted as ingredients =_=" As well the chicken marinated with spices also OUT due to the rules stated not visible!!! Luckily before I submit my entry go back to FB and checked anything should or should not....So, I took another day off to redo another bento without those!!!

Well, back to the original bento. I covered the rice with seaweed for darker background and yellow rice (mashed egg yolk mixed rice) for another half of the background. I started making the mashed potato for "Lady" face/arm/legs. Fancy big hat made of eggsheet and broccoli. Dress made of carrot (heart shape), cherry tomato roses and broccoli. Shoes made of carrot and lastly the bouquet of flower made from broccoli/carrot/eggsheet (yellow dots). Not to forgot about the golden hair made from eggsheet and nori for the lady's details!

For other ingredients: Chicken cutlet in between broccoli, potato baked with carrots and hard boiled egg, cherry tomato (heart) and decoration of carrot as flowers and eggsheet.

Well, something challenging for me to made non kawaii version of bento compared to my daily bento for my daughter's lunchbox. So many more to learned and I want to congrats to the winners and I've voted for the Top 10 Finalist too! Click HERE to see more of the Winners & Top 10 Finalists! To vote for the Top 10 Finalist click HERE.

Thank you so much for spending your time reading today's post and hope you will continue like my bento creations ^_^ Happy Friday!

Bento2014#Jun23~Badtz-maru Costume Girl

Continue my costume girl theme for Sanrio character ^_^ So what's for Monday? Moody girl in Badtz-maru costume!!! Why is she moody? Mainly because mummy the bento maker wants to sleep longer!!! hahaha...
*yawn....took me quite some time to shape the Badtz-maru head @_@

Here's the close up Badtz-maru costume girl ^_^ I'm happy that turn out well for Badtz-maru as I really took some time to shape it! Making the girl face onigiri is easy but shaping the badtz-maru spiky hair was tricky!!
Yellow rice made from rice mix with mashed egg yolk. Badtz-maru made from rice and nori. As for badtz-maru eyes were egg white (from the hard boiled egg). Cheese for girl's eyebrows and badtz-maru mouth. Freehand scissor cut out the nori details. Red cheeks made from crabstick (red part).

For side dishes: pea sprout, fishcake hiding underneath gyoza and oranges.

My daughter likes this Nude Food Movers lunchbox and I find it easy to arrange my kyaraben character compare to smaller bento box :D Hope you like today's theme ^_^ Happy Monday!

Bento2014#Jun18~Hello Kitty Costume Girl

Continue to made my Variety Yoyo Costume girl but this time I design her into Sanrio character ^_^ The mobile Variety Yoyo wallpaper theme don't have Sanrio theme but I'll continue use the different face features from the app :D

Here's the closer look of the Variety Yoyo costume girl. I dressed her up as Hello Kitty since is my daughter's favourite Sanrio character. As usual, shape the rice using cling wrap and mix rice with ketchup for face/body. Then continue shape the white rice for Hello Kitty costume ^_^ I add on the legs and crabstick (red part) for the dress/ribbon. Punch out nori for Hello Kitty details and some of the nori I freehand scissor cut.

I add another Hello Kitty made of quail egg and add all the details then add ribbon pick ^_^

For side dishes: Pea sprouts, chicken seaweed, samosa yam. I pack the apple at separate container (not in the picture).

Hope you like today's costume :) Happy Wednesday!

Bento2014#Jun16~Duck Costume Girl

I hope you won't get bored of my animal costume theme creations ^_^ I played along the Variety Yoyo from my mobile to get inspired by her face features and dressup. This is the final dressup costume from the Variety Yoyo. The rest of the designed all about dresses in different culture & occasion. So I'll continue to dressed up my little girl in other animals or sanrio characters prehaps :D  This Variety Yoyo can be found at android app on Google play. Click HERE to view.

Here's the close up Duck Costume Girl ^_^ This time I let her wear spectacle :D Cute right? If you follow my last week posts, I mix the rice with ketchup for face. To made the duck yellow, I mix the rice with yellow furikake. As you can see from the above picture, the yellow rice looks sticky or don't even look like rice at all.  When I want to reheat all the overnight rice, I add too much water so the top part was fine (face) but when I scoop the bottom part to made the duck so sticky after mixing yellow furikake :D But honestly, the best part was much easier to shape it! Hahaha....
Carrots for orange part, nori for the details and egg sheet for the spec ^_^ All nori freehand scissor cut except the duck's eyes/nose I use puncher.

Today's lunch bento I pack them into Nude Food Movers which my kids love it. For side dishes: pea sprouts along the side, apple and drumette stews.

I hope you like today's Duck Costume Girl lunch bento. Happy Monday!
