  • Yellow rice (egg yolk mix with rice) for yellow carp

Bento2015#Mar18~Cinderella Bento

Last weekend I brought my girl to watch Cinderella movie ^_^ Just the two of us! Felt so blessed to have a daughter to accompany me and leave my two men at home :D It was a nice movie and although we already knew the ending but still nice to watched at big screen!
Before the movie start has a short Frozen Fever trailer. My girl can't wait for the Frozen 2!!! She was super thrilled :D Looks like I need to make one Frozen Bento for her soon....

Here's the close up of Cinderella ^_^ I just make a simple one and she's look chuuby. Lol! Mix some tomato ketchup for face/body/hands/glass shoe (suppose to use white rice for the glass shoe but don't want to waste the balance rice so let it be) Blue rice is mix with blue pea flower extract. Decorate with nori details. I don't have butterfly puncher so I use clover puncher and scissor cut it half to make it as butterflies for Cinderella dress.

For side dishes have quail eggs as rats, pea sprout, gyoza, and carrot as pumpkin :) I pack along some grapes at smaller container (not in the picture).

I hope you like my Cinderella Bento. Have a lovely day ahead!

Bento2015#Feb23~GongXiFaCai Bento

Back to school but kids still in their CNY moods :D I spend too much time on making the egg sheets (black/red/yellow) The black eggsheet didn't turn out well so I use nori ^_^ The side dishes just add on to cover up the holes and I'm totally run out time to do it better! Sigh! So quickly take few photo shot.

Here's the close up Little Girl playing sparkling stick that my kids like it! Suppose to make fire crackers (as per angpow picture) but no time to do. Sigh again...... Well, mix rice with tomato ketchup for the girl and the red/yellow part make from egg sheet (little bit of red food gel for red eggsheet) The flower on the girl is crabstick. Hair make from inari. Freehand scissor cut out nori for the face details. Toast the spaghetti for the stick.

For side dishes have panda chicken, tofu fishcake and broccoli.

Bento2014#Sep22~Golden Hair Girl

As per request from my darling daughter that she wants a golden hair girl bento for her luncbox. Is always the opposite way that when you've black or dark hair tone would prefer the blonde hair. Or when you've straight hair would prefer natural curl. And my daughter loves her hair to be curly too ^_^ Sound funny but when I'm at her age also dream of it!! Hahaha....

Look at my golden hair girl bento. Do you like her eyes? How I wish my eyelashes were like so that I don't have to curl  :D For the face, I mix little bit of ketchup with rice and shape into ball. Arrange to the bento box and cover up with cooked organic carrot ramen. To made the dress, I add inari on top of the rice and decorate with red polka dots (crabstick) using straw to cut. Freehand scissor cut out nori for the face features and punch out ribbons using puncher.

For side dishes contain pea sprouts, quail egg, fishcake, chicken seaweed wrap, mini grapes and kiwi fruit.

Hope this pretty golden hair girl will brighten up your Monday Blues....

Recently repeated watching Kiki's Delivery Service animation movie with my daughter at home and she loves Kiki & Jiji ^_^ So I made Kiki & Jiji but in cute version for her lunch bento. I missed out Jiji's whisker =_=" Well, still look cute without it! Haha.....

Perhaps some of you already knew who she was and had watched the animated fantacy movie directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Many more of this director's movie my daughter and I love to watched ^_^ One of them including Spirited Away!! Familiar right? Did quite a few bento for Spirited Away. I think Kiki will be my first creation and hopefully I can make more of Miyazaki's other movie into bento.

Here is the closer look of Kiki & Jiji ^_^ Arrange some rice into Monbento then cover with minced meat on top. Next, I shape two small onigiri (flatten slightly) for Kiki's face & body. Freehand scissor cut out the nori for all details. Crabstick (red part) for all the red details. Jiji made from nori and crabstick (white/red) including the Jiji's white big eyes! Bento2014#Jul11~Lady Bento for Bento&Co 2014 Chef Contest

Today I'm going to share with you my submitted bento entry for Bento&Co Chef Bento 2014 Contest ^_^ Again I have fun making it and also mainly to improve myself making better. This year 2014 contest rules was different from last year. Contestants need to prepare a bento with 6 ingredients (tomato/potato/rice/chicken or tofu (vegetarian)/egg/broccoli) plus 1 additional ingredient of our choice. So what additional ingredient in my bento entry? Is seaweed!!!

Actually I made two bento and the above bento you see which will be my 2nd bento for the submitted photo ^_^ Why made two? Because I didn't know seaweed counted as the additional ingredients so the 1st bento I added fruits into as my additional ingredients but luckily I read other people comments from FB and saw seaweed counted as one of the ingredients!!! Opps......so better redo another one and submit the 2nd bento ^_^

This is my 1st bento with additional ingredient : Mini peaches that I thought seaweed on the lady face won't be counted as ingredients =_=" As well the chicken marinated with spices also OUT due to the rules stated not visible!!! Luckily before I submit my entry go back to FB and checked anything should or should not....So, I took another day off to redo another bento without those!!!

Well, back to the original bento. I covered the rice with seaweed for darker background and yellow rice (mashed egg yolk mixed rice) for another half of the background. I started making the mashed potato for "Lady" face/arm/legs. Fancy big hat made of eggsheet and broccoli. Dress made of carrot (heart shape), cherry tomato roses and broccoli. Shoes made of carrot and lastly the bouquet of flower made from broccoli/carrot/eggsheet (yellow dots). Not to forgot about the golden hair made from eggsheet and nori for the lady's details!

For other ingredients: Chicken cutlet in between broccoli, potato baked with carrots and hard boiled egg, cherry tomato (heart) and decoration of carrot as flowers and eggsheet.

Well, something challenging for me to made non kawaii version of bento compared to my daily bento for my daughter's lunchbox. So many more to learned and I want to congrats to the winners and I've voted for the Top 10 Finalist too! Click HERE to see more of the Winners & Top 10 Finalists! To vote for the Top 10 Finalist click HERE.

Thank you so much for spending your time reading today's post and hope you will continue like my bento creations ^_^ Happy Friday!

Side dishes: pea sprouts, gyoza, fishball and sausage.

Bento#July09~Boy & Girl Bento

I bought new cutters so going to use it for today's bento lunch. I spend quite some time on cooking and carving the apples/cucumber so "Boy & Girl" didn't dressed well with more decoration =_=" In this bento, I stir-fried angle hair noodles (a bit watery not dry because my kids liked it) with vegies, prawns and mushroom. Next, I add the noodles first then followed by the rest of the ingredients. The "Boy & Girl" were made from egg white sheet and used the cutter to cut. Freehand nori cut out the details and punch out the face features ^_^ If have more time, I'll decorate more on their clothing :)
For another container, I carved the apples and cucumber as leaves. Smoked ham as flower and small cucumber flower too!
I hope you will like this simple idea if you have the same cutters but I'm sure you will do better than mine ^_^ Cheers!

Bento#June14~We Love You "Happy Father's Day"

On this coming Sunday 16th June 2013 will be Father's Day!! So I decided to made one for my dear hubby as dinner bento for him. I don't think have the time to make any bento during the weekend so why not tonight since I'm cooking ^_^ I managed to find one bigger bento box as most of my cabinets filled with small bento boxes :p Anyway, this amount of food in the bento box wasn't enough for him!! Haha... there was a bowl of miso beancurd soup that I forgot to add to the photo takings :)
Well, I thought of taking some photos before I arranged the foods into the bento box. For human face, I mixed the rice with tomato ketchup and used cling wrap to shaped. Freehand scissor cut out the seaweed/nori for all the details. I made the "DAD" wears a tuxedo!! Haha....handsome right? I made two kids hugging their "DAD" :D The 2nd photos, I arranged the lady's finger/okra for little girl as her dress and white beech mushroom/Bunapi Shimeji for the boy body.
A closer look of the dad/daughter/son ^_^ I've a son & daughter so this two represent them :)
For side dishes, salmon, tamagoyaki with seaweed, crabroll, carrots as roses, cucumber as leave and kombu roll.
After I've finished made this bento....my ke-poh daughter asked: "Mummy, where are you? Why you're not inside the box?" Hahaha.... I told her its "Father's Day" and there wasn't enough room for "MUM" to fits IN!!!
Well, I wish all awesome, wonderful, handworking, loving and super DAD "Happy Blessed Father's Day" Cheers!
