Bento2015#Aug14~Gudetama Dinner Bento

This is my last night dinner and I made Gudetama Bento for myself since my girl doesn't like this sanrio character =_=" Just a simple sunny side up egg to create gudetama :D Pretty easy by adding nori details and lay on top of the rice.

Here's the closer look of Gudetama and I didn't create the actual shape egg yolk since I just want to made sunny up egg ^_^ Simply freehand scissor cut out nori details and I didn't add the legs :p

Side dishes contain broccoli, carrots and bacon.

Have a lovely weekend!

Bento2015#Jul26~Bunny Deco Sushi

Yay! I'm so excited to get one copy of my dear talented and favourite bento food artist Shirley Wong from "Little Miss Bento" ^_^ This is her latest new launched Kawaii Deco Sushi Book that I must said very nice tutorial pictures taken and most importantly in English version :D So where to purchase? You can easily shop at Kinokuniya bookstore at your area or other major bookstores or perhaps purchase online ^_^ For more details can hop over LittleMissBento blog

Since I got the book, I can't wait to practice my deco sushi but sadly didn't turn out as pretty as Master Shirley bunny deco sushi :D Looks like I need more practicing than will improve! I choose to bunny deco sushi among the rest because I like bunny :D

Opps.... look at my first attempt creating big and unbalanced bunny ears =_=" Can you see that I actually making bunny deco sushi? Looks weird right? Hahaha....
Oh well, nothing comes easy so I need to practice again to get it correct.

A closer look of my bunny deco sushi :) To make my bunny cute, I add extra lashes :D

Underneath the bunny deco sushi, I add rice first and cover up with chicken floss. Arrange the deco sushi and some lettuce.

My fridge running out of ingredients so I use mashed sweet potato to make carrots! I also cut out some cherry tomato roses and decorate few slices of oranges behind the mashed potato carrots!

To match my bunny deco sushi theme, I use Bento&Co "WanWan" bento lunch box ^_^ Look kawaii together right?

Well, I hope you like today's Bunny Deco Sushi of mine ^_^ Have a lovely Sunday!

Kintaro boy make of rice mix of ketchup using cling wrap to shape into a ball. Make another smaller ball for the hand. Freehand scissor cut out the nori for hair/eyebrows/eyes and punch out the nose and lip using puncher. Lastly, add the samurai helmet. I follow the tutorial from Youtube :p

Here is the close up three different carps ^_^
  • White rice for white carp
  • White rice plus broccoli on top for green carp
  • Yellow rice (egg yolk mix with rice) for yellow carp
  • Cheese and nori for the details
For side dishes have broccoli, salmon with sweet sauce coating and grapes.

I bought the two tier (Oyako Kingyo) lunch box from Bento & Co for quite some times. It's perfect for today's theme ^_^ Hope you like it!

Bento2015#Apr24~Bento&Co Sandwich Bento 2015 Contest

Did you see the result from Bento&Co Sandwich Bento Contest at FB? My sandwich bento are among the 10 finalists! I was so excited to spot my sandwich at FB and couldn't believe it! This is my 3rd times to participate Bento&Co contest. Is a challenging and fun making whenever I decided to joined in the contest each year.

So this year theme is about creating sandwich. If you follow my blog, I hardly make sandwiches bento for my daughter lunch. Pretty hard to think or create and the rules that Bento&Co looking for.... really need to do some homework on it! So this round, I focus on the sandwich. I love my sandwiches with eggs fillings so I get the idea of creating "EGGS" sandwiches ^_^ Different kind of eggs such as hard boiled eggs, century eggs and quail eggs! Yums! I toasted whole wheat bread and trim for the perfect sizes. Here's my sandwich ingredients:
  •  6 pieces of whole wheat bread (toasted)
  • 1 hard boiled egg (large and I use kampung egg)
  • 1 century egg
  • 2 quail eggs (for extra touch to make chicks)
  • lettuce/tomatoes/cheese/mayonnaise
  • orange and grapes as well cut out tomato rose for decoration
Not forgetting create some cute chicks but I focus on the sandwiches for taking photos. Because that's the main contest. Well, to create yellow quail egg simply soak at turmeric water and remember to stir. As for the other two-tone quail egg, I soak half and leave some white part. The dark brown color, I mix water and some black food colouring but after soaking the color wasn't black =_="

Arrange neatly for each sandwiches into the Monbento box and filled up the rest of the side dishes. Next, is the photo takings! I took countless shots.... really a lot and only can pick ONE for the contest. Oh gosh.... how I wish can submit more than one with different angles... hahaha....

Thank you for reading my posts and if you like my sandwich bento or view more delicious sandwiches bento from other finalists. Just click HERE to vote. Only one vote for per person and will end on April 27th (Monday). Thank you so much for your support and appreciate bottom of my heart. Hugs!

Bento2014#Dec22~Domokun Xmas

Countdown 3 more days to go and we're going to attend Christmas Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve. My kids can't wait to open their Christmas presents and I made Domo-kun stand-by and waiting.....hahaha....my final Christmas bento for this year 2014.

Here's the close up Snowman made from mashed potato (I mashed the cooked potato with fork and mixed with parmesan cheese powder/dash of salt) Punch out nori details and scissor cut out the hands. Crabstick for nose and scarf.
As for Domokun made from pan-fried potato with breadcrumbs. I shaped the mashed potato as Domokun before I start to pan-fried with breadcrumbs. I prefer less oil so I don't go for deep fried the potatoes :p After done, I just add crabstick for Domo mouth/hat and nori for eyes.
For side dishes have broccoli, eggsheet, chicken fillets and mayonnaise for extra flavours ^_^

I hope you like this Domokun Xmas Bento & early greetings from me Merry Christmas!

Bento2014#Jul11~Lady Bento for Bento&Co 2014 Chef Contest

Today I'm going to share with you my submitted bento entry for Bento&Co Chef Bento 2014 Contest ^_^ Again I have fun making it and also mainly to improve myself making better. This year 2014 contest rules was different from last year. Contestants need to prepare a bento with 6 ingredients (tomato/potato/rice/chicken or tofu (vegetarian)/egg/broccoli) plus 1 additional ingredient of our choice. So what additional ingredient in my bento entry? Is seaweed!!!

Actually I made two bento and the above bento you see which will be my 2nd bento for the submitted photo ^_^ Why made two? Because I didn't know seaweed counted as the additional ingredients so the 1st bento I added fruits into as my additional ingredients but luckily I read other people comments from FB and saw seaweed counted as one of the ingredients!!! Opps......so better redo another one and submit the 2nd bento ^_^

This is my 1st bento with additional ingredient : Mini peaches that I thought seaweed on the lady face won't be counted as ingredients =_=" As well the chicken marinated with spices also OUT due to the rules stated not visible!!! Luckily before I submit my entry go back to FB and checked anything should or should not....So, I took another day off to redo another bento without those!!!

Well, back to the original bento. I covered the rice with seaweed for darker background and yellow rice (mashed egg yolk mixed rice) for another half of the background. I started making the mashed potato for "Lady" face/arm/legs. Fancy big hat made of eggsheet and broccoli. Dress made of carrot (heart shape), cherry tomato roses and broccoli. Shoes made of carrot and lastly the bouquet of flower made from broccoli/carrot/eggsheet (yellow dots). Not to forgot about the golden hair made from eggsheet and nori for the lady's details!

For other ingredients: Chicken cutlet in between broccoli, potato baked with carrots and hard boiled egg, cherry tomato (heart) and decoration of carrot as flowers and eggsheet.

Well, something challenging for me to made non kawaii version of bento compared to my daily bento for my daughter's lunchbox. So many more to learned and I want to congrats to the winners and I've voted for the Top 10 Finalist too! Click HERE to see more of the Winners & Top 10 Finalists! To vote for the Top 10 Finalist click HERE.

Thank you so much for spending your time reading today's post and hope you will continue like my bento creations ^_^ Happy Friday!

Bento2014#Jun15~Happy Father's Day Bento

Happy Father's Day to all amazing super dad ^_^ I made this bento on Friday's night dinner for my man at home but I schedule to post it today :) Last year I made similar bento too as I have two beautiful children and can't believe that my son has already grown up taller than me =_=" To view my last year Father's Day Bento click HERE.

Look how handsome I made for the "DAD" hahaha....looking smart with black tie ^_^ Pretty girl (my daughter) and handsome boy (my son) both hugging their "DAD". To made the face, as usual mix rice with ketchup. Frehand nori cut for hair and all details :) Arrange all three then filled up the holes with veggies and star fishcakes.

Is seafood Friday for us, so I cooked simple stir-fried spring onion prawns with white shimeji mushroom and checker apple.

It's been awhile have not use this Fukuro Bento box ever since bought from Bento & Co. Just nice for Father's Day Bento due to most of my lunchbox too girlish or small boxes. Totally out to match today's theme but this Fukuro Woodgrain looks just PERFECT for adult right?

Okay....bon-appetit! Wish all super daddy "Blessed Father's Day" good in health ^_^

Bento#Sept04~Bento&Co Three Color Bento

Today I will post my yesterday dinner bento ^_^ I want to try out this "Three Color Bento" theme by Bento and Co. so I decided to create it after cooked dinner dishes for my family! Is quite fun making colorful dishes and arranged nicely into the bento box.
Here is my tried out "Three Color Bento" Green/Yellow/Brown & White ^_^ Sorry that I can't helped it not to made any kyaraben :p My daughter saw this bento and told me: "Mummy, I want to eat this for my dinner!!"  Hahaha....
Brown rice bear: I mixed the white rice with my chicken mushroom stew sauce and cut the mushroom as bear ears and punched out nori seaweed for the details.

White rice bunny: Just plain rice and I shaped two bunny ears using spaghetti strips to secured it. I made small rice ball for the nose and punched out nori seaweed for the details.

Yellow rice: Bottom of the scramble eggs, I add the same brown rice. The scramble eggs I mixed with yellow capsicum.

Green rice: Bottom of the stir-fried Organic Baby Pea sprout will be white rice.

So basically the bento bowl I used were alternate brown and white rice combined ^_^
Cooked this chicken mushroom stew using Happy Call ^_^ I didn't followed any recipe but just my simple cooking skilled :p
I used WANWAN bento box bought it from Bento&Co during my Kyoto visits! So I filled up the extra scramble eggs and the organic baby pea sprout ^_^ I also add skewers fruits~Grapes, Purple dragon fruits cut into cube and oranges!
