Bento2015#Apr24~Bento&Co Sandwich Bento 2015 Contest

Did you see the result from Bento&Co Sandwich Bento Contest at FB? My sandwich bento are among the 10 finalists! I was so excited to spot my sandwich at FB and couldn't believe it! This is my 3rd times to participate Bento&Co contest. Is a challenging and fun making whenever I decided to joined in the contest each year.

So this year theme is about creating sandwich. If you follow my blog, I hardly make sandwiches bento for my daughter lunch. Pretty hard to think or create and the rules that Bento&Co looking for.... really need to do some homework on it! So this round, I focus on the sandwich. I love my sandwiches with eggs fillings so I get the idea of creating "EGGS" sandwiches ^_^ Different kind of eggs such as hard boiled eggs, century eggs and quail eggs! Yums! I toasted whole wheat bread and trim for the perfect sizes. Here's my sandwich ingredients:
  •  6 pieces of whole wheat bread (toasted)
  • 1 hard boiled egg (large and I use kampung egg)
  • 1 century egg
  • 2 quail eggs (for extra touch to make chicks)
  • lettuce/tomatoes/cheese/mayonnaise
  • orange and grapes as well cut out tomato rose for decoration
Not forgetting create some cute chicks but I focus on the sandwiches for taking photos. Because that's the main contest. Well, to create yellow quail egg simply soak at turmeric water and remember to stir. As for the other two-tone quail egg, I soak half and leave some white part. The dark brown color, I mix water and some black food colouring but after soaking the color wasn't black =_="

Arrange neatly for each sandwiches into the Monbento box and filled up the rest of the side dishes. Next, is the photo takings! I took countless shots.... really a lot and only can pick ONE for the contest. Oh gosh.... how I wish can submit more than one with different angles... hahaha....

Thank you for reading my posts and if you like my sandwich bento or view more delicious sandwiches bento from other finalists. Just click HERE to vote. Only one vote for per person and will end on April 27th (Monday). Thank you so much for your support and appreciate bottom of my heart. Hugs!

Congratulation to all 10 finalist and click HERE to view two winners ^_^ Super amazing!

Bento#Nov12~My Melody Wheat Wrap

Kids requested to have a simple lunch on every Tuesday. The only simple one will be making sandwiches but I saw some wheat wrap from supermarket so thought of give it a try. This is my first attempt to use the wheat wrap instead of roll with bread ^_^ I wrap with turkey ham, lettuce, capsicums (yellow & red) and mayonnaise. Then roll and wrap them to aluminium foil for oven toast 4 to 5 minutes. After toast, I removed the foil wrappers and wrap with My Melody foil ^_^

Here is the closer look of the wheat wraps ^_^ I made two wheat wraps for both of my children. In this My Melody bento box, one of toasted wheat wrap with "My Melody" aluminium foil and the other 2nd wheat wrap I slice into half. Arranged it and insert love picks on top then add My Melody baran sheet.

For the 2nd tier of the My Melody bento box, I made boiled egg (cut into cube) mayonnaise with capsicums (yellow & red) and cucumber as salad. Carve apple leaf and checker apple for other side. Again I add cute My Melody baran sheet on top. I liked this bento box but only for small portion of food. You can see the whole bento box at the bottom of this post. I took some pictures!

I am so sorry for the over exposed photos due to early morning indoor photo takings in my kitchen. Even though I add extra lighting still cannot compare to natural outdoor sunlight =_=" Well, I hope you will like my simple lunch bento for today's post! Have a nice day to you all!

Here is the two tier My Melody lunch box. There is Hello Kitty design but I choose My Melody design during my previous Japan trips :p

Bento#July12~Lion Sandwiches Bento

Yesterday at Facebook saw Rie's Bento and Cooking fan page posted sandwiches bento. Very good ideas of using cling wrap to wrap the sandwich and tie with pretty ribbons. I'm sure most of you already well known her awesome bento works! So here is my kids school bento snack, inspired by Rie. I made "Lion Sandwiches" with eggs, mayonnaise, tomato and cucumber (balance of the salad at the side food cup). I used flower cutter (2 different sizes) to made the sandwiches after adding the egg salad. On top of the sandwich, I made "Lion" eggsheet, nori and smoked ham. I also add sweet pea for some green touch :)
Apricot and strawberry as well as the balance egg salad mayonnaise with honey cherr tomato roses and cucumber leaves ^_^
I hope you will this "Lion Sandwiches Bento" and I'm looking forward for the weekend ^_^ Yay....no morning wake up call etc.... Cheers!

Bento#July01~Singing Bone Hello Kitty

Last week was the last McDonald Singing Bone Hello Kitty collection in Singapore!!! My sister and I didn't managed to collect the Ugly Duckling HK so this final piece HK my sister's hubby was so sweet that he drove in Singapore before midnight and queue to purchased ^_^ I am thankful to my brother in law ^_^ So here I made "Singing Bone Hello Kitty" sandwich for my daughter bento snack :)
I traced out HK and scissor cut together with nori then add on top of the cheese. As you can see one of the bone was bigger due to I missed out and forgot to cut =_=" So I have to used toothpick to slowly trim out from the cheese. To made the ribbon, I used toothpick to trim out the cheese then add crushed pink fondants. Little black cat also followed the same step as HK method but paste on egg sheet.
The background of the houses and bat were freehand scissor cut out nori (lazy to trace so do it freely) Underneath I add tuna sandwich and add egg sheet on top.
I hope you will like this "Singing Bone Hello Kitty" bento snack ^_^ Finally finished all 6 different Hello Kitty themes except two of them were made last year. If you missed out or like to see the rest of the McDonald Hello Kitty bentos. Please click the link below:
Thank you so much for all the "LIKE" at my Facebook page or Instagram. You all were the BEST!
