Bento2016#May20~Miffy/Sanrio/SanX

16.05.16 (Monday)

Sleepy Miffy
When comes to Monday, I felt like sleepy mode each time :D Perhaps due to  the weekend no alarm buzz so I can sleep longer! So Monday bento, I made sleepy Miffy Zzz.... Miffy made out of rice. Just shaped them into three parts (face & ears) Arranged them into the lunch box and filled up the holes by adding okra and prawns. At another two small containers, I added tamagoyaki, fish rolls and oranges sprinkle sour plum on top.

17.05.16 (Tuesday)

Rilakkuma Hello Kitty
On Tuesday, I prepared Rilakkuma & Hello Kitty for my theme bento. I spend some time on cooking the aubergine and pan-fried the pork slices as well some rolled together with okra. Since after done cooking all the dishes, I left less time on shaping my theme so I just filled up the brown rice (dark sweet sauce mixed rice) and left some part of white rice for Hello Kitty. Freehand scissor cut out the nori detailed and cheese for nose. Easy right? Hope you like it!

18.05.16 (Wednesday)

San-x Meat Patties
On Wednesday, I stir-fried bee hoon for my kids's lunch box. Every day rice will made them bored so I need do some changes :D Honestly, I'm not really good on cooking but I felt lucky that my kids will eat whatever I cooked for them. Stir-fried bee hoon was my first attempt and it turned out "thumbs up" after I got feedback from them when I picked them up after school. To made cute theme, I cooked meat patties and one patty melted cheese on top for my Kiiroitori and the patty just leave if as Rilakkuma. Punched out nori by using puncher and arranged the detailed.

19.06.16 (Thursday)

Sanrio & San-x
On Thursday, I combined the Sanrio characters & San-x character into one bento box. This bento box can be found at Daiso store and just nice for me to create into different characters. As you can see from the above photo, I created each square box into Hellot Kitty, My Melody, Kerropi and lastly Rilakkuma as I can't think of which Sanrio character brown in color so ended I made Rilakkuma instead :D
  • Hello Kitty : Rice/Nori/Apple
  • My Melody: Noodles/Carrot/Cheese/Nori/Tofu skin
  • Kerropi: Broccoli/Cheese/Carrot/Nori/Apple
  • Rillakuma: Rice at bottom then covered up with minced meat on top. Cheese and nori

Rilakkuma Deco Mashed Potato Steamed Buns

It's baking time since I have some orange sweet potatoes to make deco steamed pao ^_^ This round I make Rilakkuma using the same recipe but just add some cocoa powder for brown colour. To view the recipe can visit HERE my previous Winnie The Pooh Deco Steamed Buns.

I prepared the dough at late evening while cooking dinner for my family. Well, I'm happy that the dough rise up well and time to shape into Rilakkuma. On the other hand, my girl already helped me rolled the red beans into 12 balls each ball is 10g for the pao fillings. Each dough I use 40g for each ball and I make sure have balance dough to the ears ^_^
To make brown dough, I mix some cocoa powder to the natural dough. This took me quite some time to knead it until smooth. (*Sorry that I didn't use any measurement for the cocoa powder, all base on the brown colour that I prefer)
To make black detail simply add the natural dough with some charcoal powder and knead until smooth.

The balance black dough just nice to create Jiji Cat ^_^ While steaming, the pao skin not as smooth as the Rilakkuma =_="

I hope you will like this Rilakkuma Deco Steamed Buns. Happy Thursday!

Bento2015#Sep02~Rilakkuma Inarizushi

Oh no..... I make my Rilakkuma too chubby until look so cramped :D I know my girl likes to eat inari so to make this Rilakkuma, I use three pieces of inari pouches to create it ^_^ It will look nicer if I control on the amount of rice.

Here's the closer look of my Rilakkuma Inarizushi ^_^ The details make of nori. Oh gosh.... really look cramped inside =_=" Poor thing.....

As for side dishes have pan-fried fish fillets, broccolim carrots and checker apple.

I hope you like this chubby Rilakkuma Inarizushi Bento.

My first Rilakkuma Pull-apart Breads

Today's Rilakkuma pull-apart bread inspired by +Jean Yap recipes. Is like a challenging task for me due to I hardly baked breads! Thankfully the breads turn out well and soft.

For decoration: I don't have dark chocolate for the eyes so I just used normal chocolate.

To view the recipe please visit HERE. Do check or follow her at Facebook/Instagram for latest updates. She made awesome bentos as well and I wish I could baked like hers ^_^ By the way, the recipe needs milk and I don't have milk at home so I substitute with soymilk.

Here comes a snapshot of my daughter holding the bread  ^_^ Love the soft texture! My kitchen smelled great!

I hope you like my Rilakkuma pull-apart bread ^_^ Have a blessed weekend!

Bought some eggplants so today's bento I add some eggplants for kids lunch ^_^ They love it! I spend quite some time on cooking so to make a theme bento, I just use mashed potatoes to decorate as Rilakkuma & Korilakkuma. It was pretty rush but luckily still manage to get it done before send them to school. Phew!

Here is the close up Rilakkuma & Korilakkuma make from mashed potatoes/nori/ketchup. As for Kiiroitori make of quail egg soak with turmeric water to get the yellow touch :)

Bento2015#Mar25~Rilakkuma & Kiiroitori Bento

Simple lunch bento for today that I just decorate my meat patties into Rilakkuma ^_^ I skip Korilakkuma due to the light colour because my patties are too dark for it. At least I have time to make Kiiroitori make from tamagoyaki :p And can you spot the missing part?

Here is the close up photo. I'm sure you can notice my mistake =_=" Is my Kiiroitori!!! I miss out two small dots at the carrot nose! Argh.... Well, by looking at the photo now, it seem that my Rilakkuma don't look like. Am I asking too much on perfection? Lol!

I don't follow any recipe for my meat patties. Just marinate minced meat with cornflour, soy sauce, fine garlic/onion, spring onion and dash of pepper. Before I pan-fried it (I prefer pan-fried instead of deep fried), roll the meat patties into the shape that you prefer then dip with egg and bread crumbs. Cook until golden brown.

To decorate into Rilakkuma, I cut out cheese for the nose, nori for details and button mushroom for ears.

For side dishes just pea sprouts, carrots, grapes and mandarin oranges. I hope you like this simple bento. Happy Wednesday!

Bento2015#Mar04~Rilakkuma & Kiiroitori Bento

Simple lunch for today :) I make Rilakkuma & Kiiroitori to match my lunch box :D I didn't use any rice mould to shape Rilakkuma. All you have to do is shape the bear using cling wraps. Honestly I prefer cling wrap compare to rice mould when you're not rushing time. But using rice mould will help you save up time. Well, just do whichever you like ^_^

Here the closer look of Rilakkuma. To make brown rice, I add little bit of dark sweet sauce to the rice and shape the head, ears and hands. For the white part, I cut out hard boiled egg (white) and add in the nori details. I take some of the egg yolk to add on top of the ears then press together using cling wrap.

For side dishes have stir-fried fresh button mushroom with chicken. I also pack some grapes and another small container (not shown). Kiiroitori make from hard boiled egg and add nori details. Cut out some cucumber leaf and apple leaf as well to brighten up the lunch box!

I hope you like today's simple lunch post. Have a nice day!

Here's the close up look of my Rilakkuma ^_^ To made brown rice just add sweet dark sauce together with rice. Pour half of the brown rice into the bento box and press firmly using cling wrap (avoid rice stick to hand). Add shape ears and mouth. Freehand scissor cut out nori for the details. Stick the nori eyes onto the cheese then trim out using toothpick.

For side dishes have pea sprout, meat patties, tamagoyaki and orange. I also punch of nori paw and stick onto the orange ^_^
