Bento2016#Mar04~Pooh/Hinamatsuri/Goldfish/Miffy

Good day everyone! Here I am to update my weekly bentos and I hope you like it ^_^

Day1: 29/2/16 (Monday)

Winnie The Pooh
On Monday, I made Winnie the Pooh rice popsicles ^_^ I have Pooh bear rice mould so pretty easy to shaped it. To made the rice yellowish simply add boiled egg yolk to mixed the rice and I used half of the boiled egg only for this bento. The other half boiled egg went to my son's lunch box :D
I added some chicken floss for each Pooh rice popsicle and filled up with nori details on top. To made it cuter I added bee foodpicks too! As for side dishes have pea sprouts, gyoza, grapes and chilli sauce (small container)

Day2: 01/03/16 (Tuesday)

Goldfishes
On Tuesday, I made used of the cherry tomatoes to create goldfishes ^_^ Most of the bento-ers will know how to made and I must thanks to the first person who created this awesome creative idea. I'm sorry that I've no idea who started first but you can easily learn it from Youtube (that's how I know after saw from others).
Filled up the rice into the thermos and add on the goldfishes on top (Be sure to have enough level to cover up, you wouldn't want to pressed the goldfishes flat when your kids open it) Designed with cheese for the eyes & mouth (I used two different sizes of straws) To made "blue" background, I used one blue pea flower petal soaked at hot water then tap them surrounding area of the rice.
For side dishes have sesame chicken drummets, broccoli, tamagoyaki and some fruits.

Day3: 02/03/16 (Wednesday)

Hinamatsuri
On Wednesday, I created my 2nd attempt of Hinamatsuri Bento. I cooked some pasta and to decorate the theme characters, below will be my ingredients:
  • Fish ball : Cut half for each Emperor & Empress face
  • Nori/seaweed : Freehand scissor cut out to add on as hair
  • Japanese cucumber : Emperor body
  • Tamagoyaki : Empress body
  • Carrot : Fan/Flowers (to made holes simply used a small hole straw)
For side dishes have beef patties (mayo on top) and some kiwi fruits with grapes.

Day4: 03/03/16 (Thursday)

Miffy
On Thursday, I wanted to make another Hinamatsuri theme bento for my girl since it's the actual day but my girl prefers other character ^_^ Well, I know my girl likes to bring thermos lunch box so I made "MIFFY". To made Miffy, I used fish ball again for the face and ears. Tamagoyaki for Miffy yellow dress instead of using crabstick for red dress :)

For side dishes have dark sweet sauce chicken drummets, broccoli and some frutis.

Bento2015#Oct28~Pooh & Tigger Cherry Tomato

Try my best not to do rice kyaraben for her every day bento so today's Winnie the Pooh & Tigger make of cherry tomatoes. At first, I want to use potatoes for Pooh but notice my fridge still have cherry tomatoes so give it try :) A little bit tricky to play the cherry tomato when I try to add the nori but I don't have extra time to change ingredients.

A closer look of the yellow cherry tomato "Winnie the Pooh" and orange cherry tomato "Tigger" ^_^ Underneath the rice, I mix some furikake and arrange spinach for decoration.

For side dishes have gyoza, scallion pancake and ketchup at Pooh sauce container.

I hope you like today's bento sharing ^_^ Have a lovely day!

Winnie The Pooh Deco Sweet Potatoes Steamed Buns

Oh no..... I can't helped it ever since I made deco steamed buns few days ago ^_^ This round I followed the recipe book for the ingredients to made "Golden Mini Buns" but I changed into "Pooh Deco Sweet Potato Steamed Buns with Red Bean fillings" Yup! Red bean fillings again!!! My kids like it a lot especially my elder son loves to eat his breads/pao with red bean fillings :D

The above photo that I shared at my FB/Instagram. Looked at it.... I still need to practice more for my Winnie the Pooh details =_=" Especially the details that I should have cut the lines into fine lines! It will look much better :D

Sorry to said that I didn't take any tutorial photos due to my sticky hands while kneading the dough :D
Anyway, I'm not a professional :D but I managed to took few shots after I shaped it with red bean fillings and the details ^_^

Here's the closer look before I bring all my Pooh Deco Pao to steams ^_^

After steamed it!

Ta-da!! I hope you will like my "Winnie the Pooh Deco Sweet Potato steamed buns"

Recipes by Agnes Chang's "Tasty Temptations" book
Dough:
  • 1 tsp yeast*
  • 2 tbsp warm water*
  • 1/2 tsp sugar*
  • 300g plain flour, sifted (I used pao flour)
  • 1/2 bowl mashed orange colour sweet potatoes
  • 50g castor sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 90ml water
*mixed, let it stand for 10 minutes till foamy

Fillings:
1 bowl bean paste/lotus seed paste, formed into 20 small balls (recipe book stated)
But I made used of my leftover red bean paste as fillings and mad about 10 balls @20g each ball

Method:
1. Dough: Mix and knead all ingredients to form into a smooth and pliable dough. Cover and leave aside to prove till double its size. Knead again and rest for 15 minutes. Divide into 20 portions and form into small balls. (Note: I divided into 10 portions balls and the balance dough I mixed with charcoal powder for the details. Please take note that the balance dough left a lot due to I only made 10 portions for Pooh)

2. Use 1 piece of skin dough to wrap up 1 portion of fillings to get a mini pao. (Note: I pull out small portion for Pooh ears before I wrap up 1 portion of fillings). Please view the photo above.

3. The balance dough mixed with charcoal powder to make Pooh details. You may pull part balance dough for black colour dough as I ended up balance black again =_=" (I just made plain black mantou since is the leftover) so that you can make other mini panda deco mantou too!

4. After adding the black details (view the above photo) and leave to prove 15-30 minutes.

5. Steam over high heat for about 5 minutes. Remove and serve hot.

Bento2015#Jun17~Disney TsumTsum

My second attempt making Disney Tsum Tsum again. This round I make three tsumtsum ^_^ Woohoo..... the natural colours turn out pretty good. What do you think? I know I'm going to use blue rice for Eeyore so one night before I cook my rice together with blue pea flower instead of next day morning mixing with blue pea extract. I find it blue pea flower cook together with the rice, the blue colour turns out nicely. So next morning I just reheat the blue rice without rushing time :)

Here is the close up Eeyore in blue colour ^_^ Freehand scissor cut out nori details except the eyes, I use puncher. Eeyore onigiri inside have chicken floss.

Winnie the Pooh onigiri also with chicken floss fillings and I mix the rice with egg yolk. Freehand scissor cut out nori details except the eyes I use puncher. Sweet corn for Pooh ears that I secure with spaghetti. Ketcup for cheeks!

Piglet onigiri no fillings because little bit small so I skip :D Pink colour is make of sakura denbu mix the rice.

Side dishes have milk pokchoi, oat fish fillet and some oranges.

Hope you like my Disney Tsum Tsum. Too bad I don't have piglet soft plushies =_=" Or else it will be a perfect sets!

Today's bento I made a big pot of "hunny" for Winnie the Pooh ^_^ Honey bees buzz around and can't get in the pot! Haha....just thought of making up a story :p Instead of make Pooh bear, I came out this idea while doing my sketching....so Pooh bear ends up tiny :D

Here's Winnie the Pooh bread toast. Actually wanted to put one Pooh toast but second thought I added another one and look pretty nice :) Underneath Pooh bear, I put chicken and potato. Next to it just arrange the apple.

Pot of honey made from rice mix with dark sweet sauce then use cling wrap to shape. Cheese as honey and kombu for the "HUNNY" word and details. The white part is crabstick. Honey bees made from quail egg (soaked them with turmeric water) and nori for details. Next, I arrange some sweet pea for some green touch and pasta leaves as well.

Bento#Sept25~Pooh with honey bees

Bought some quail eggs so I thought of making honey bees! To match with the honey bees so I thought of Winnie the Pooh ^_^ This ideas seem quite famous and pretty much can see it from Pinterest or Bloggers. Sorry about the photo lighting due to indoor and my kitchen need extra lights to brighten up! I don't have time to adjust my light even though saw the reflection of my eggsheet =_=" Oh well, as long the looks like Winnie the Pooh will do ^_^
Yellow quail egg: Peel the hard boiled quail eggs then soak into water mixed with turmeric. I stirred it every 10 minutes.
Honey Bees: Cut nori strips and punch nori for the face features.
Spinach, carrot salad with white sesame recipe that I follow Hippomum's book.
Grapes, blueberry and sausage cut into heart shape .
What's inside the Pooh?? I reheat the leftover rice and mixed with furikake. Then cover it with eggsheet and freehand scissor cut out the nori for Pooh face features ^_^ Lastly, I add ketchup for Pooh cheeks as well as the honey bees cheeks!
This is for my son's lunch bento. I wanted to make another Pooh but he doesn't like it =_=" So I just add "BEST WISHES" for him and he likes puppy so I punch out puppy nori for the quail eggs ^_^ Well, I hope you will like today's bento post and hope to hear from you at the comments below or may be can just shared it! Thank you so much XOXO

Bento#Sept13~Pooh Bento Snack

Yay!! I love Friday and this weekend will be longer for us due to next Monday is a Public Holiday! I don't have to wake up early and kids can enjoy playing, watching, perhaps will go shopping together ^_^ So for today's bento snack, I transform the chicken floss wrap (bought from local bakery shop) into Winnie the Pooh character. I don't have to make lunch bento on Friday because kids school hour until late noon so usually will pick them up then had lunch together.
Freehand scissor nori cut for Pooh face features and I use oval shape cutter to cut out the bread skin for Pooh's ears. To stick the nori, I add kaya spread or you can use jam or mayonnaise. Bear shape marshmallows, strawberry, grapes and strawberry kit-kat ^_^ I hope you will like today's simple snack and wish you all have a great weekend! Hugs!
